1. Scope
This policy covers panchangams.com and all Panchangams apps, including Panji (Odia) and every regional almanac we publish subsequently. One policy governs the family; where an individual app ever differs, that difference will be stated here explicitly rather than in a separate document.
2. What we collect
Nothing. We do not collect, transmit, or store your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or any record of how you use the app. We operate no servers that receive personal data from the apps, so there is no account to delete and no database in which you appear.
We do not require registration. You do not create an account, and you are never asked for an email address or phone number to use the calendar.
3. Location stays on your device
Panchang timings — sunrise, sunset, tithi boundaries, muhurta — depend on where you are, so the app needs a location to compute them. If you grant location permission, your coordinates are used only on your device, solely to perform that calculation. They are never transmitted to us, never stored off the device, and never shared with anyone. We do not operate any server that could receive them.
Granting location is optional. You may instead choose a city from a list bundled in the app, and every feature works fully without ever granting the permission.
4. No analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers
Our apps contain no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, no attribution or measurement frameworks, and no third-party trackers of any kind. We do not use cookies in the apps. We show no advertising, and we do not sell, rent, or share data with data brokers — we have none to sell.
5. The calendar works offline
Calendar and festival data is bundled inside the app at the time you download it. Core use requires no network connection and makes no server calls: a full year is navigable in airplane mode. Updated almanac data reaches you through ordinary App Store and Google Play app updates, not through a live connection to us.
6. What is stored on your device
Your preferences — chosen city, language, Elder Mode, reminders, saved observances — are stored locally on your device. If you have device backups enabled, they may be included in your own iCloud or Google backup under Apple's or Google's respective policies; that backup is yours, and we cannot read it. Deleting the app deletes this data.
7. App stores
If you install through the Apple App Store, TestFlight, or Google Play, those platforms may provide us aggregated, anonymised statistics — install counts and crash reports — under their own privacy policies, and only where you have opted in to sharing with developers on your device. This reaches us in aggregate only. It identifies no individual, we cannot connect it to any person, and it does not come from any code we have added to the app.
8. This website
panchangams.com sets no advertising or analytics cookies and runs no third-party trackers. Our hosting provider retains standard web-server logs (IP address, request time) briefly for security and operational purposes, then discards them. The support form does not transmit anything to us or to any form service: it composes a message in your own mail application, which you choose whether to send.
9. Children
Our apps and website are suitable for all ages and collect no data from anyone, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children — since we collect no personal information from any user, there is none to collect. The apps are not directed at children as a target audience and contain no advertising or in-app messaging.
10. Your rights
Data-protection law grants you rights of access, correction, erasure, and portability over personal data held about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to return, correct, or erase — and no request is needed to achieve it. The following statements are made for completeness:
11. Changes to this policy
If our practices change, we will revise this page, update the effective date above, and record the change in the history below. Material changes will also be noted in the apps' release notes. We will not reduce your privacy retroactively: any future feature that collects data will be described here before it ships, and will be optional.
12. Contact
Questions about privacy, or about anything on this page, go to a person who works on the apps. Write to [email protected] — or, in plain text so it is readable without a mail client: hello (at) panchangams (dot) com. We reply within two working days.
